Alex Candelas began his journey into Japanese gastronomy over 20 years ago, drawn to the artful balance of centuries-old traditions and the profound cultural connections created through food. His passion for Japanese cuisine blossomed into a desire to share these experiences in a more personal and intimate setting—where every moment and flavor can be fully appreciated. And so, HomemakaseATL was born. “Food is more than just a meal—it’s an expression of love, a gateway to culture, and a bond that brings people closer. Growing up, cooking was always about family and home, about building memories and sharing affection. The food my mother made wasn’t extraordinary in technique, but it brought me immense joy as a child. As a chef, I aim to bring that same kind of love into your home through my craft. That’s the heart of HomemakaseATL.” Alex now lives in North Atlanta with his wife, Irina, and their two children.
